Victoria Townsend is a patent agent at Ridout & Maybee LLP in the firm’s Toronto office. Victoria assists clients with the drafting and prosecution of originating patent applications with an emphasis towards mechanical technologies. Victoria has experience working with clients in the automotive, manufacturing, consumer products and oil & gas industries, and assists these clients with their Canadian, US and foreign patent portfolios. Victoria also provides clients with patentability, infringement, and freedom-to-operate assessments.

Prior to joining Ridout & Maybee LLP, Victoria began her career in Ottawa where she trained to become a patent agent with a boutique patent and trademark agency firm after graduating from McGill University. She discovered the world of intellectual property and the field of patent agency at an engineering faculty career fair while studying Mechanical Engineering and has never looked back! She feels lucky to have found a career that combines her interest in science and technology, her love of writing, and her keen sense of attention to detail.

Victoria is originally from Montreal and returns to Montreal often to visit family and friends. Outside of the office, Victoria is a truly Canadian hockey and soccer mom and spends much of her time juggling her children’s busy sports schedules!
