CIPO Announces Interruption of Online Services in Advance of Legislation Change Date

In order to prepare for the coming into force of the sweeping changes to trademarks law and practice on June 17, 2019, the Canadian Intellectual Property Office (CIPO) has announced that the following online services will be unavailable from Thursday, June 13, 2019 at 00:00 ET to Monday, June 17, 2019 at 06:00am ET for system upgrades and enhancements:

  • Trademarks e-Filing;
  • Trademarks Registration and Renewal;
  • File a Statement of Opposition or Request an Extension of Time;
  • Enter a Name to the List of Trademark Agents;
  • Trademarks Database; and
  • Trademarks Journal.

To the fullest extent possible, clients are strongly urged to take any of the above actions in advance of June 13, 2019.
