We are currently recruiting for a Trademark Agent.   In this role, you will be involved in assisting with the management, maintenance and growth of trademark portfolios of our clients in Canada, the U.S. and internationally.   

Responsibilities for this position include:

  • Conducting trademark searches and drafting trademark registrability opinions; 
  • Representing clients before CIPO on matters including preparing, filing and prosecution of applications for registration of trademarks; 
  • Assisting with preparing and filing pleadings, written submissions and evidence for Trademarks Opposition Board proceedings;
  • Assisting with management and maintenance of global trademark portfolios;
  • Classifying goods and services and making submissions to CIPO;
  • Managing deadlines and client requests.

Ideal candidates should possess the following skills and qualifications:

  • Minimum five years of experience in an Intellectual Property environment;
  • Registered as a Trademark Agent in Canada;
  • Ability to prioritize work to effectively manage deadlines;
  • Strong critical thinking and problem solving skills;
  • Excellent communication and interpersonal skills;
  • Ability to work independently and in a team setting;
  • Strong attention to detail;
  • Proficiency with MS Office and the ability to learn new software and technology quickly;
  • Ability to exercise good judgment and discretion; and
  • An excellent work ethic.

Knowledge of PATTSY, Open Text Document Management, eDOCS Edition (eDOCS DM), Enterprise Elite/Webview and working in paperless environment is an asset.
