Summer Law Student and Articling Student Programs

The Ridout & Maybee LLP summer and articling student programs provide summer law students and articling students with an introduction to the various areas of intellectual property as well as an opportunity to get to know the firm’s lawyers.

As an intellectual property law boutique, Ridout & Maybee LLP does not have a rotation system. Students will work with different lawyers to gain broad exposure to intellectual property law. Students are encouraged to participate in all stages of client work to get exposure to an intellectual property lawyer’s practice.  We emphasize training, continuing education and feedback. A variety of social activities organized by the firm assist in the integration of students into the fabric of the firm and the intellectual property bar while providing opportunities to get to know the firm’s lawyers and other professionals.

Ridout & Maybee LLP offers compensation and benefits competitive with other intellectual property firms.

Ridout & Maybee LLP hires both summer law students and articling students. We adhere to the Procedures Governing the Recruitment of Students for summer and articling positions set by the Law Society of Ontario (“LSO”). For the applicable due dates for the current year, please speak with your career development officer or visit lso.ca.

Ridout & Maybee LLP works closely with law schools across Ontario and throughout Canada. Please consult your career development office regarding the application process applicable to your law school.

Your application should include a cover letter, resume, copy of undergraduate (and graduate, if any) transcripts, copy of law school transcripts, list of upper year courses, and any other information relevant to your interest in and pursuit of a career in intellectual property law. It is not necessary to submit a writing sample. Reference letters will be reviewed but they are not required. If you are applying to our Toronto or Burlington office, please specify the office(s) for which you wish to be considered.
