With over 35 lawyers and patent agents with offices in Toronto, Ottawa and Burlington, we are reputed for providing exceptional work quality, balanced with a business-oriented approach, to optimize our client’s IP assets.  Our clients range from some of Canada’s largest businesses and SME’s, to educational institutions, start-ups, and early stage companies. As well, we function as Canadian patent counsel for many significant foreign companies. On average, we file over 3,000 Canadian patent applications per year.

Our practice is growing and we are currently recruiting in our Toronto office for the following professionals:

  • patent lawyer / agent with a background in mechanical engineering; and
  • patent lawyer / agent with a background in chemical engineering.

A degree in mechanical or chemical engineering, and registration as a patent agent with the Canadian Intellectual Property Office (CIPO) is a requirement. Registration as a patent agent before the United States Patent and Trademark Office (USPTO) is an asset but not required. The ideal candidate will have 2 to 6 years of experience as a registered patent agent. Qualification as a lawyer is an asset but not required. 

The position will involve working with leading innovators and providing advice on intellectual property strategies, preparing and prosecuting patent applications, and providing opinions on a variety of IP matters.
